My Little Demon

These are characters that I made for a story called "My Little Demon." The story centers around kids at a special school whose population can see familiar spirits. It's a lot more expansive than that, but I don't care enough to go into detail. So yeah. Obviously, one of the characters resembles me (because I'm awesome and vain). Enjoy.

Huey Freeman Promo

This is just a lil fun thing I put together. I drew this years ago, but decided to color it just now. I'm really excited that Aaron decided to do another season. I'm a huge fan of the strip and the comic. But enough dick-riding. Enjoy.

Samurai Jack, back from the past...

See, this title works on many different levels. One, it's a quote from the theme song of Samurai Jack. Also, I drew this pin up about a year ago (almost 2 years), which makes it from the past... kinda. Whatever. Anyways, I finally colored this thing. It's 6AM too and I have to work today until close, so instead of a long-winded explanation of this piece, I'll go to sleep. Enjoy.

Well looky here...

Worked on this project during my internship at Cartoon Network/Turner (I forget which one owned my soul at the time). It was fun. Met some cool folks. Dunno when the project is going to debut but yeah... Schwag.

Some 30min Marker Sketches

Just a lil something I do for exercise. I want to get in the habit of doing these every morning. We'll see how that holds up...

Justice League Rebooted (My way)

This is my version of the Justice League, the greatest superhero team ever. Trust me when I say that I'll go into depth with each character and provide explanations for the choices I made. I'll also provide my revamped back stories for the characters and how they all tie together to form the Justice League. This is just the promo picture. So enjoy!

Hardly Working...

New stuffs coming soon. Here's proof that I'm not just watching t.v. all day (Young Justice) or stuffing my face all night (Honey Buns). Stay tuned, peeps. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

The Way of the Rabbit

This is a character I did for a design class. The idea was to do my own take on the "Tortoise and the Hare" story. I'll post my turtle when I find it... I'm so unorganized. Boo hoo. But yeah. I was inspired by the concept art from Afro Samurai, especially Kuma. So there ya go...

Breaking Bad Revised

This is the newest version of the pin up. It's a very subtle change but I think it does a world of difference. I added a warm overlay on Walt and Jesse. I think it ties the piece together a lil bit more. Plus putting the complement to that green background on those bright yellow jumpsuits make the pic look like it is whole... with Gus being so red and the yellow kinda getting lost in the background. Ok, I think I'm done with this now.

Breaking Bad (Colored)

IT'S FINALLY COLORED! Ugh! I starting this thing at 1am... didn't finish until 5am. So yeah. I was really picky on color choices, details, and small things that a lot of people won't give a shit about. I altered the line work a bit because of my horrid inking job :/

Speaking of inks, my lines got crapped on when I scanned and used threshold on this shit. I was pissed. I might have to start inking thicker. But yeah, I posted the original line art with pencils so you can see a comparison. Anyway, I hope you like. I'm glad I'm done. THANKYA GEEZUZ!

Angry Koala Colored

I know I said I'd post a coloring tutorial, but I got lazy... ok. I'll post it later. When I feel like it . So there. Anyway, this took about an hour to flat and color. I might play with the palette a little more, but I'm diggin' the red and gold motif already. Let me know what you think.

No Facebookz Anymore...

Yeah, mine will be gone in less than an hour, so if you click a link to it anywhere on the blog, you'll follow it to Nowheresville. I'll get it back on the 3rd, but yeah... it's for "religious reasons" or something deep I think. So yeah... see ya on this thingy or Google+. Deuces.

The Ohana

This is a pin up of my Friends and I. I plan on coloring it soon. Maybe tonight. Maybe not. Enjoy.

Angry Koala (From Inks to Edits)

I thought that I should show my BASIC process for scanning and cleaning inks up so that they are ready for color. First, if you have a pic that you've draw in your sketchbook that has been inked but contains "blue line" under drawing, don't panic. There's a was to get pass that and trust me, it's frickin' simple. Here's an example of my scan: --->

Notice my blue line drawing? Well, it's all good. That'll be gone before you know it. After you scan your picture, drag it into Photoshop and begin editing. DOUBLE CLICK the BACKGROUND LAYER and press OK.

Now, I drew my Koala on brown paper, but I want my image to be Black and White; just my lines and the white paper. THIS IS THE WAY TO GET RID OF THE BROWN PAPER IF YOU DREW ON BROWN PAPER: An easy fix is to turn the image into Black and White. You do this by going to IMAGE- ADJUSTMENTS- BLACK&WHITE. There will be a menu that pops up and you'll see a set of color sliders: Reds, Yellows, Greens, Blues, Cyans, Magentas. Slide them all over to the FAR RIGHT/ 300%, then press OK. Your picture should look something like this:

Your picture should be faded black in the spotted black areas and there should still be a trace of your pencils on it as well. It's ok, we're almost there.

What you'll do next is IMAGE- ADJUSTMENTS- THRESHOLD. Another menu will pop up but it'll only contain 1 slider. There'll be a 3 digit number up top. Set it to 145. This part is can be adjusted to how you want your inks to look. I just use 145 because it looks the best for my style... and it's what my professor said to do. But you can make it any number you want. Just makes sure it complements your line work!

After you've followed these simple steps, you should have clean, crisp looking inks without the grey leftover lines. You might have to touch up a bit with the PENCIL TOOL and get rid of minor spots of black that were dark enough to make it through the THRESHOLD process. Your finished product should look a lil somethin' like this:

There ya go. AWESOME INKS! I'll make a post about my method of coloring using this same pic. But until then, enjoy and I hope I helped.

Vincent Price

So, I'm obsessed with this guy. Love all his movies. Love his eyes. Wish I could pick his brain now but I guess we weren't meant to exist in the same time. Oh well. Here's a sketch I did of him.

Finn The Human *Inspired by Frazetta*

This will be finished. And it will be a trillion times better. This is just an upload from my mobile. Enjoy.

Waitress

This was a quick sketch I did of my waitress while I was eating at a restaurant. She wanted me to draw her because she saw my book. I agreed. Then she wanted it... for free. I was like, "Guuuurl, I'm a starving artist!" Then she was all, "C'mon, baby. Pweez!" The I said, "If you get me a free margarita, then I'll give it to you." She said no. So I told her to draw herself and leave me alone. The end.

Too Coole Concept Art

Just some rough sketches. More for height reference than anything. Nothing special.

Multi-Babies (My sister's edit)

This is my sister's edit to the pic. I love her choice in the palette. Enjoy.

Multi-Babies

These are my nephews. Well, not all of them are. They're twins (meaning there's only two in real life). My sister and I wanted to do a photo shoot with the boys, but do something a little more creative. The lighting, shots, and editing were done by me, of course. My sister helped by keeping the boys from falling off the couch. It's a lot harder to photograph two 8 month year olds than I thought. Enjoy.

Clickity, Bloody, Click Click

I spoke with a potential client today and realized that I don't have a lot of my photography posted. This came as a slight disadvantage because the job requires a photographer. You can see where I'm going with this. So, yeah, I'm going to start posting more photos. Most of them are self portraits, and I know how you love to see my beautiful face. This is an oldie but here's a little treat for you:

Breaking Bad meets Dark Knight Returns

So let's state a few facts: 1.) This show is ridiculously awesome. Period. 2.) That is about it. *now back to our regularly scheduled programing* I was impressed with the new season so much that I decided to make some fan art. Hopefully you caught the homage to the DKR. I always see Walt and Jesse as a dysfunctional Batman and Robin... who make crystal meth. But yeah. I'm going to get a friend to make this into a graphic tee for me after I get it colored and whatnot. Til then, enjoy...

Sooo, you should check out my friend's site. He's got some pretty nice stuff over there. Hit the LINK to see.

I DRAWZ MUH FRENZ TU

Did a quick sketch of a friend.
Yes, he does look that stupid.
And yes, he's even stupider than he looks.
Enjoy.

Mi Madre

So, this is the lady responsible for my existence. She's my favorite mother too.

Work Update! (As if you care...)

I've been doing some commissions for a few folks lately: tattoo designs, comic strips, illustrations, and a top secret iphone game. Been pretty busy but when I'm able to, I'll post the process. Tootles, nerds.

Too Coole on the Facebookz!

Hey, do you have a Facebook? Of course you do. It's not like it's Myspace or something. Anyway, you should join the "Too Coole" Group page. Not because I told you so, but because deep down, you really want to. Here's the LINK, homie.

The FIRST "Too Coole" Comic!

It's been a long time coming, but here it is. I still want to polish it up though because I was kinda rushed to do it for school. Enjoy.

FLICK PICK: Curse of the Golden Flower

This has always been one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie has all the ingredients of a classic: 1. Rich, beautiful set design and costumes, 2. Great and engaging story and music, 3. Excellent performances, 4. Nigh perfection in camera work. I'm usually iffy about period pieces but this film is too immaculate to ignore. The thing is that it's one of those movies that if you choose to watch it, you have to WATCH IT. It's not one of those films you can walk in and out of and still be in the loop... ok? I was so happy when I found it on DVD for like $5 in a bargain bin a few years back. Ugh, I can't tell you how awesome this film is... you just gotta experience it for yourself, dude.

Jamming to: Adele's 21

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Talk about a true lyricist. Don't mean to get all mushy, but it's like she sings my very thoughts... how's that for some ol' Shakespearian lingo? Anywho, definitely a great album to listen to during those long nights inking pages. Check her out, yo!

Some ol' Self Portraits *hurr de durr*

So here are some self portraits that I did a while back (when I had muh hairz). As you can see, I'm my favorite subject. *total narcissist* I'll leave a description of each, bloo blah...

This was a quick drawing I did (about 12 mins on the Photoshopz). I was pulling from a Venture Bros-esque kind of style. I think I did ok...

One of my favorite artist has to be Jamie Hewlett. Tried to merge his style with a little of my own. The glasses need work though. This was also a quickie but eh...

This was my own idea. I wanted to make a periodic element of myself (if that makes any sense). These aren't just random numbers either, so yeah, Da Vinci Code that shit and find out what it means... or not... you know what, never mind.

Portfolio Review with Marvel

Yeah, so May 7th, I'll pour my life's work in front of a Marvel editor. Kinda iffy on this because I'm technically not too proud of a few things in my work. Gotta print a lot of shit before then too to update it. Got some mini's done though, so I'll stick those in there. Also wanted to do at least one whole Too Coole comic before then. I already have a script, just need to get the time to do it (two jobs, twin newborns, school, apartment hunting, graduation... ) Yuk, responsibilities sucks booty butt balls.

Another Vis 1 Assignment

This was the first draft for this assignment. My professor ripped it to shreds but he was right. So I'll fix it and post the new thumbs later this week or so. So yeah...
